GENERAL SUMMARY
The Assistant Center Director supports the Center Director in managing the overall customer experience, sales, and local marketing strategies of the Center to achieve performance goals and grow the Center. This
role assists with the day-to-day Center operations to ensure a consistent, quality educational experience for Sylvan customers while helping manage costs. The Assistant Director ensures that policies and procedures are executed according to Sylvan standards and supports coaching and development of Center staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures timely and high-quality personal customer service response to all calls and walk-in inquiries.
  • Ensures calls get answered during business hours.
  • Assists with daily operation of the Center- Supports achievement of sales and expense financial targets.
  • Monitors and tracks Center performance, revenues, expenses, and fee collection; Recommends and implements interventions to improve performance.
  • Helps select, develop, and motivate Center staff; Assists with performance reviews.
  • Ensures communication flow between corporate and Center staff.
  • Supports Director of Education in maintaining high instructional quality.
  • Confers with customers at each stage of the customer lifecycle; Assists in directing the sales and service process.
  • Promotes financing options and manages application/closing process.
  • Supports local marketing and enrollment efforts.
  • Helps build and maintain relationships with school personnel and parent/teacher organizations.
  • Conducts school visits for partnership and marketing purposes.
  • Maintains professional appearance of the Center.
  • Ensures adherence to Sylvan standards and student safety protocols

KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED

  • Experience in customer service; retail or sales experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and general office equipment.
  • Experience using social media (Facebook, Instagram, etc.) preferred.
  • Familiarity with educational environments or instructional technology is a plus.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and provide consultative sales support.
  • Willingness to learn and support sales and enrollment goals.
  • Team leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Proficiency in data entry and administrative tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and dependable.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to ten pounds.
