Job Description: CDL Shuttle Driver

Position Summary
Groome Transportation is seeking safety-conscious, dependable, and customer-focused CDL Shuttle Drivers to transport passengers safely and reliably between Monterey County, San José International Airport (SJC), and San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, punctuality, strong communication skills, and a commitment to providing excellent passenger service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Safely operate company shuttle buses and other authorized commercial passenger vehicles along assigned routes.
Transport passengers between designated pickup locations and airport terminals according to established schedules.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
Assist passengers with boarding, exiting vehicles, and loading or unloading luggage as needed.
Provide courteous, professional customer service and respond appropriately to passenger questions.
Follow company policies, traffic laws, passenger transportation regulations, and all applicable safety procedures.
Maintain accurate trip, inspection, and other required operational records.
Communicate effectively with dispatch and operations staff regarding schedules, delays, route changes, and passenger needs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and professional vehicle environment.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possess a valid driver’s license and the appropriate, current commercial driver’s license (CDL) for the vehicle being operated.
Meet applicable passenger transportation licensing, endorsement, and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a driving record that meets employer and insurance requirements.
Successfully complete required background screening, drug and alcohol testing, medical certification, and other applicable pre-employment requirements.
Demonstrate safe driving practices, reliability, punctuality, and a professional demeanor.
Be able to work independently and follow established schedules and procedures.
Be available to work assigned shifts, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous commercial driving, shuttle, bus, or passenger transportation experience.
Previous customer service experience.
Familiarity with Monterey County and regional routes to SJC and SFO.
Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional while managing time-sensitive schedules and passenger concerns.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
Physical and Work Requirements
Ability to sit and operate a vehicle for extended periods.
Ability to assist passengers with luggage and perform related physical tasks, subject to the position’s requirements.
Ability to safely enter and exit the vehicle and assist passengers as needed.
Ability to work in a transportation environment with changing traffic, weather, and schedule conditions.
