Become a Member of the Monterey County Workforce Development Board
Workforce Development Boards (WDBs) receive federal, state, and local funding to support workforce development programs. They also oversee the local America’s Job Centers, where job seekers can access employment information, explore career training opportunities, and connect with programs available in their area.
WDBs must maintain at least 51% representation from the business sector. This requirement ensures the workforce system is guided by local business needs and remains accountable to all its customers. The remaining members represent labor organizations, education and training providers, economic and community development, and the public sector. Diversity is encouraged across industries, organization size, services provided, and geographic areas.
Why serve on a Workforce Development Board?
WDB members play an active role in shaping a responsive, business-led workforce system. Benefits of joining include:
- Reducing training costs by partnering with businesses that share similar workforce needs.
- Strengthening local business networks to boost productivity and regional success.
- Identifying workforce challenges and developing realistic, data-informed solutions.
- Staying informed on shifting labor market trends, in-demand skills, and emerging occupations.
The Monterey County Workforce Development Board is currently seeking representation from the private sector. Each board member is expected to serve on at least one subcommittee, contributing their expertise to help guide workforce priorities and strategies.
