ABOUT THE POSITION: The Building Maintenance Supervisor works in the General Services Division of the Public Works Department. The General Services Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of all City-owned buildings, SATCOM and the Presidio of Monterey. The division is also responsible for building upgrades and energy saving projects as well as custodial services for all City-owned property.

Salary: $96,240 – $117,024

SUMMARY: Under direction, to supervise the maintenance, repair, construction and remodeling of buildings and facilities, including rental units and contractual work. Provides extensive, direct crew-level oversight, including planning, coordinating and tracking costs, personnel and work output. Assist in the preparation of budget; and to do related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/Training: Two years of college level coursework in business, management, engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Five (5) years of experience in building maintenance, repair, and managing building/construction work crews.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION:

  • Must possess a valid California Driver’s license upon appointment and be insurable with the City’s standard insurance rate, unless otherwise approved by appointing authority.
  • Class B General Contractor’s License is desirable.
