Description

Primary Job Duties

  •       Adhere to room cleaning and stocking checklist guidelines
  •       Vacuuming, sweeping, and/or mopping floors
  •        Dusting, brushing, polishing and vacuuming furniture
  •       Dusting and cleaning room decorations, appliances, and structural surfaces (e.g. wall fixtures window sills, vents)
  •       Changing linen and making beds according to procedures
  •       Cleaning and disinfecting showers, tubs sinks, and bathroom items
  •       Removing used guest amenities and trash
  •       Replenishing guest amenities and trash
  •       Checking for damaged linens
  •       Reporting lost and found articles, maintenance problems, special room problems and damage in rooms to a supervisor
  •       Maintaining storage rooms and work buckets
  •       Moving soiled linens and towels from guest rooms to laundry quickly
  •       Enter room status in system as needed
  •       Inspect and report room damage or maintenance problems to supervisor immediately
  •       Report any unusual activity to supervisor and/or managers
  •       Report items left by guest to front desk immediately
  •       Advise supervisor of any outstanding “Do Not Disturb” rooms at 1 PM
  •       Providing information to guests about hotel services, facilities, amenities, or local attractions
  •       Respond to special guest requests or complaints such as extra pillows, towels, etc.
  •       Assist other staff as needed

Requirements
Knowledge

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma – or the equivalent (for example, GED)
  • Minimum 6 months experience in a janitorial or cleaning position
  • Hotel experience preferred but not required

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Understanding of proper use of commercial grade cleaning supplies
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
  • operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to learn proper use of various types of equipment and cleaning materials used in cleaning assigned areas
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet business needs

Physical Requirements

  • Sit, stand, and walk for varying lengths of time
  • Lift approximately ten (10) pounds
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
    Working Conditions
  • May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants
  • May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
  • Must be able to stand, bend, twist and reach throughout the day
  • Repetitive hand motion
  • Grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, pulling, pushing, listening and hearing ability and visual ability
  • Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 25 lbs to a minimum of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 15 feet
