COMPENSATION
Diversion Worker I Hourly Salary: $19.10 – $24.44 (in eleven steps)
Diversion Worker II Hourly Salary: $21.08 – $26.98 (in eleven steps)
Eligible for 5% bilingual pay for qualified individuals.
THE POSITION
Under the direction of the Field Operations Supervisor, performs a variety of unskilled manual tasks primarily
involving physical strength, dexterity and coordination; lift and move heavy objects; separate materials such as
tires, mattresses, wood, glass, metals, etc. from waste materials for recycling or reprocessing; assist in loading
and unloading trucks; may clear and clean various work areas within the transfer station/landfill; may perform
some semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks in a training and learning capacity; move collection bins with
pneumatic forklift to and within the recycling facility; sweep and remove hazards from the work area of the
recycling facility; respond to questions from the general public related to the Authority’s solid waste and diversion
programs; interact with customers and direct customers to proper drop off locations for recyclable items; perform
other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A valid class “C” California driver’s license; high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required;
equivalent combination of experience may substitute for education requirement. A valid class “C” California
driver’s license and bilingual in English/Spanish is desirable.
