Job Title: Assistant Actuary
Location: Hybrid – Reno, NV / Monterey, CA / Phoenix, AZ
Pay: $90k-$150k
About the job:
This hybrid role supports the Actuary, Analytics, & Data team with projects across multiple actuarial disciplines. The Assistant Actuary helps drive business decisions through analysis, predictive modeling, and clear communication of insights.
We’re looking for someone who:
Has a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field
Has 4+ years of actuarial experience with increasing responsibility
Holds or is pursuing an ACAS designation (preferred)
Has strong SQL skills and a solid understanding of relational databases
Is experienced with R, Python, or other statistical software (preferred)
Has working knowledge of Tableau or similar data visualization tools (preferred)
Can apply predictive modeling insights to business needs
Mentors others and contributes to team development
Upholds professional standards set by the Casualty Actuarial Society
What you’ll do:
Support actuarial projects across pricing, reserving, and data analysis
Query, clean, and analyze large datasets using SQL and statistical tools
Communicate findings clearly to business partners and technical teams
Assist in building models that guide business decisions
Provide guidance to junior analysts and contribute to team knowledge sharing
Collaborate across departments to support strategic initiatives
Follow actuarial standards of practice and ensure data integrity
