Veterinary Receptionist Job Summary
We are looking for a friendly and organized Veterinary Receptionist to join our animal care team in managing our front desk and provide excellent care to our patients and clients. As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for our Veterinary Hospital. You will welcome clients and their pets as they arrive for appointments, you will coordinate administrative duties including redirecting phone calls, check-in our animal patients, update patient records and owner information, schedule appointments, process payments, and encourage retail sales of food, supplements, flea treatment and other items available in our clinic. To be successful as a Receptionist, Multitasking, stress management, communication, and conflict resolution skills are essential for this position. You will be required to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner, while streamlining office operations. Ultimately, a Receptionist’s duties and responsibilities are to ensure the deliverance in high quality customer service and execute all administrative tasks.

Veterinary Receptionist Duties and Responsibilities
• Check-in animal patients
• Greet and welcome clients and their pets as they arrive at the office
• Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
• Gather and certify pet and owner information
• Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/ email
• Maintain records
• Receive, sort and distribute daily mail/deliveries
• Schedule appointments
• Process payments
• Encourage retail sales
• Prepare prescriptions and explain instructions
• Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as emailing, photocopying and faxing
• Ensure reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationary material (e.g. pens, forms, and brochures)

Veterinary Receptionist Requirements and Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Professional attitude and appearance
• Experience with AVImark a plus
• Excellent Customer service skills
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to be proactive and resourceful when issues arise
• Excellent organizational skills and detail oriented
• Hands-on experience with office equipment (e.g fax machines and printers)
• Basic math skills and computer literacy
• Multitasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks
• Comfortable working with animals
