Job Description:
MEUSE Gallery, a prestigious art gallery located in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, is seeking an experienced and professional Art Sales Consultant with a passion for luxury sales and a deep appreciation for fine art. This is a part-time position with the potential to transition into a full-time role after a successful probationary period.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Customer Service:
- Greet and engage visitors, making them feel welcome in the gallery.
- Provide detailed information about the artworks, artists, and the gallery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Close sales effectively, meeting and exceeding sales targets.
Technology & Administration:
- Comfortably navigate and use POS systems for processing sales.
- Utilize CMS platforms for client management and inventory tracking.
- Optional but advantageous: Experience with graphic design software.
Teamwork & Flexibility:
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth gallery operations.
- Attend two weekly sales meetings (one online and one in person).
- Be flexible with scheduling, including weekends and special Meuse Gallery events.
Physical & Professional Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move artwork up to 30+ pounds.
- Adhere to a professional dress code for every shift.
- Ensure reliability and punctuality, with dependable transportation.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in luxury sales.
- Local to the Monterey Bay Area.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Excellent communication skills: phone, email, and text.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfort with technology and willingness to learn new systems.
- Commitment to a long-term position (2+ years).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of POS, CMS, and graphic design software is a plus but not required.
- Experience in the art industry is highly desirable.
- Comfort with social media platforms.
