Host Your Next Hospitality Intern!

Help shape the future of the hospitality workforce by partnering with Monterey County Works through the Hospitality Cadre program. Employers who host interns have the opportunity to train and mentor motivated young professionals, build a pipeline of future employees, and contribute to the growth of our local hospitality industry. Hosting an intern is a meaningful way to invest in your workforce while supporting career pathways for local job seekers.

To host an intern:

  • Be an employer in the Hospitality & Tourism Industry
  • Be located in Monterey County
  • Be available to host an Intern for up to 36 hours per week from June 1 to July 17, 2026


Additional benefits:

  • Opportunity to hire after completion of the internship
  • NO COST to you as the employer

 

Interns will receive the following certifications:

  • The Certified Guest Service Professional by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute.
  • OSHA 10: General Industry Certification
  • SERV Safe Food Handlers Certification

All accepted Employer Partners are required to: 1) attend prerequisite program meetings, and 2) commit to hosting an intern between June 1 and July 17, 2026.(Required)
All Employer Partner applicants should be aware that participation in the Hospitality Cadre Program is conditional on a match with a Hospitality Cadre Intern and is not guaranteed. Please confirm that you understand.(Required)
All applicants should be aware that as an Employer Partner, you'll be connected to interns who have received training and certifications relevant to their roles. We also secure the funding for your intern, ensuring there is no financial burden on you. Please note that the Monterey County Workforce Development Board has its own requirements for accessing funding and resources. Your participation is contingent on meeting these requirements and completing all necessary paperwork before getting started with Hospitality Cadre. Please confirm that you understand.(Required)
Once selected, your intern's wages will be covered by local workforce boards. As part of this process, you will need to complete their required paperwork and enrollment steps and ensure timely approval of timecards.(Required)
